Morecambe Bay
International Video Competition

Welcome

This competition has been established to honour the memory of Eric Morecambe, to encourage young people to become interested in the art of videography and to stimulate film and video clubs around Great Britain. Also to draw attention to this, one of the most beautiful areas of England, as well as acknowledging forty years of film and video making by members of one of the most active video clubs in the UK, Morecambe Bay Movie Makers.

Morecambe Bay Movie Makers

The club is celebrating forty years of film and video making in January 2010 and this competition is just one of the special events arranged to celebrate the event.

The club have worked with local schools and groups to produce promotional and educational movies and we go around to many local societies and groups giving performances showcasing member’s films.

In addition to club movies individual members have produced a whole variety of work using the entire movie making technology available. The subjects include rock climbing & pot holing, travelogues, comedy & drama, local events, craftsmen and artists at work, the heritage of the local area and many other subjects.

The club have a close working relationship with the North West Film Archives in that material has been loaned to the club and in return we have filmed events specifically at their request in the area for inclusion in the Archive for future generations to study and enjoy. We also voluntarily source old films for preservation by the organisation.

We now meet in St. Christopher’s Church Hall, Bare, Morecambe at 7.30 every Monday night from September to May each year.
